The X-20 Tour Irons combine Callaway Golf's best X Series iron technology with traditional styling for tour-level looks and feel. X Series irons have always been about performance and forgiveness. The X-20 Tour Irons advance that heritage with design elements more accomplished players will relish.
So while in appearance the X-20 Tour and X-Forged irons are very similar, I think they are going to play and feel quite differently. And yet when I did a side-by-side visual comparison of them in a store, it was just amazing to me how close they were to one another.
Extreme Notch Weighting Redistributes even more weight to the perimeter of the iron to create a high moment of inertia (MOI) for greater forgiveness and more stability.
Callaway Tour X-22 Iron Set
To improve on the highly successful Callaway X-20 Tour Irons, Callaway Golf engineers added new features that allow the X-22 Tour Irons to play even better and feel even softer. Precision Notch Weighting and a new sleeker hosel combine to raise the MOI for better stability and allow the CG to be moved lower and more in line with the center of the face. This generates ideal trajectories and significantly enhances the level of feel. The head shape has been refined with the thinnest possible topline while still using a 360-Degree Undercut Channel, and the optimized sole width progression provides better turf interaction.
Features: 1. Precision Notch Weighting creates a higher MOI for more stability while maintaining the CG position that produces ideal trajectories and feel. 2. Tour-proven head shape features a thin topline, shorter blade length, and a lower in-line CG. 3. Redesigned hosel is sleeker to significantly improve feel and adjustability. 4. Sole width progression optimizes turf interaction through the entire set. 5. Callaway Golf core technologies include VFT and a 360-Degree Undercut Channel.
This set of irons is really one of the best sets of Calloway that I have hit yet. When testing them the pro was really up on the new technology that make these irons perform. Things like Precision Notch Weighting, Modified True Bore head design, and VFT technology. All I have to say is the long irons were easy enough to control that I left my 3H in the bag, the mid irons were a little longer than the Fusions but mainly I was able to control distance and work the ball with more consistency. The short irons really gave me my control back and since my putting is poor got me close enough to make a difference. I shot a season low 77.
I would recommend these clubs for a 8 to 12 handicapper only because while they have a lot of technology to improve moment of inertia (MOI) to make up for those of us that do not hit the ball square all the time. They still give you a lot of feel to work the ball.
