Golf is a game that anyone can play, the outdated image of golfers being wealthy men of retirement age has given way to almost anyone man, woman or child grabbing their clubs and taking to their local golf course. Second hand golf clubs are remarkably easy to come across, many professional and amateur golfers will trade up at some point to better clubs with added designs to help their more advanced game. Many golfers will trade their old clubs in when they buy new ones so you may be able to purchase these clubs at a discounted rate.
When buying second hand clubs you need to bear two things in mind: Are these clubs appropriate for beginners and what condition are they in? Obviously trying to start playing golf with high-tech professional clubs can be difficult as the control of the clubs can be tough as they are made for players with a good control when striking the ball. You should aim for beginner-friendly features such as weight distributed to give a more forgiving shot which should stop the ball flying off to the side.
Secondly you need to check that the club is in good condition and not damaged. Most golfers will take good care of their clubs, and so there's a good chance you can pick up some clubs that have rarely been used or at least don't look to have been used that much. Make sure the shafts are straight and that the club face is free of any knocks or scratches, these will hinder your shots and can slow your progress.
Second hand golf clubs are a great way to save money on beginners clubs if you don't want to spring for an entire set just yet but also for people who want to add one or a few new clubs to their golf bag such as a better 9 iron or a utility wedge. Most golf club shops will have a second hand section as well as many golf warehouse stores which also stock end of line golf clubs, equipment and clothing.
Golf needn't be an expensive sport with golf vouchers offering discounts on green fees available and cheap online golf handicap calculators you'll be able to start playing golf and not break the bank in no time!
